We are a group of people seeking to help others, young and old, by giving time in practical service.
Our Church
The Mundijong Heritage Uniting Church was built in 1905 as a Methodist Church. Apparently the building was provided as a thankyou by timber workers for nurses during the polio epidemic.
The building is located on the main street of Mundijong, 18 Paterson St.
Our Garden
The beautiful Mundijong Heritage Church garden is a restful venue, open at any time for visitors passing through, with nearby shops and facilities available for travellers.
The space is sometimes used for community events which are signposted at the front of the garden at the time.
On Saturday mornings, the community gardeners gather to tend to the garden, which has developed into a relaxing community space, with lawned area, garden beds with flowers, herbs and vegetables. There is a BBQ which is accessible by the community. It is a fenced garden, which is open to the public and is often used as a picnic spot by parents of young children, possibly due to it’s proximity to the a playground and the local shops.
The community gardeners usually meet to commence gardening around 10.00am, around noon it’s down tools to have lunch in the garden, often a shared plate or two. New gardeners are always welcome, or if you prefer – just come by for a look and a chat!
For some time now the Mundijong community have been working hard to improve the grounds, and building.
Any assistance with this venture or the gardening is welcome! The community acknowledges the many donations of time and finances; corporate, Shire and individuals to preserve the heritage church building and gardens.
